Finding a vocalist
After hearing Tiv sing in my ensemble, I asked her if she would be keen to collaborate on my project. She convinced me that my voice was perfectly suited for the song, so we came to an agreement that she would sing harmonies in the choruses. All she required was sheet music.
Version 1
Comments: I liked the ‘oohs’ Tiv used in the lines ‘kindness in everyone’ and ‘anything is possible’ but wasn’t sure about the wah wah sound. She was happy to take onboard this feedback
Version 2
Comments: This was exactly what I meant. I then suggested that a call and response sequence might be interesting and asked her to experiment with the words ‘hope, love, eyes and child’.
Version 3
Comments: She hit the nail on the head and even surprised me with an energetic ad lib part. Now it was time to do the ending chorus. I thought we could try doubling up on the vocals and see how that sounded.
Version 4
Comments: We both agreed that the ending wasn’t quite right. We decided to change it back to ‘oohs’ at the end as my voice was powerful and having a doubled up part wouldn’t be as effective.
